What do you want from your rental property?
When entering into a search of all the properties to rent in your area, it’s important to go in with a clear vision of what you want from each room.

For example let’s start with the bathroom. Are you a person who likes to soak in the tub for hours on end, dreaming the world away in a soapy trance? Do you like to spend ages getting ready for a night out, or are you someone who likes to get in and get out, making the most of your ten minutes in the bathroom? These are things you need to consider as if you’re the latter, you will probably only need a small, functional bathroom. If you like to take your time, you might want to find somewhere with a slightly bigger facility.
Now onto the bedroom. Is this a room in which you plan on spending a lot of time? Do you enjoy your sleep; napping at the weekends whilst watching some movies? Or do you get in, get your six hours then get out again, spending lots of time in your other living areas? If you are the former, you’ll want to get a bedroom you really feel you can relax in, with lots of space and light. If the latter, you may want to sacrifice having a big bedroom to get a slightly bigger lounge area.
Lastly, you need to consider what type of lounge and kitchen you’ll want. If you are someone who likes to entertain people a lot or a person who is a keen cook, you might want to look for somewhere with a big open-plan kitchen-diner style space. This means you can easily socialise whilst cooking, without missing out on all the living room action. If it’s just you or two of you then you could get away with having separate rooms or a smaller all-in-one space.
Having a clear idea of your expectations is ideal and will make the house-hunting process a whole lot easier, for you and the estate agent.
